International House Braga is an English and German language school in the city of Braga, in northern Portugal, and has been operating since October 1985. It is a member of the International House World Organisation (IHWO), a network of more than 140 schools in 45 countries. It is also an authorised Cambridge English exam centre and preparation centre. In January 2026 it passed the IH Quality Inspection Programme, meeting all IH quality standards, and its next inspection is due in 2029. More than 20,000 students have studied at the school over the years, and it currently has over 700.

The school offers English and German courses for every age group: Kids and Kiddies, Juniors, Teens and adults, plus tailored courses for companies and individual learners. It prepares students for Cambridge English exams, reporting a pass rate above 99% and more than 3,500 IH Braga students who have taken them. Intensive summer programmes run for children, teenagers, adults and exam candidates. Lessons are taught in the target language and follow the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) levels, with a communicative approach and a lot of oral practice.

Students are children, teenagers, adults and working professionals, mostly from Braga and the surrounding region. Classes are small and grouped by level and age, which allows more individual attention. A wide choice of timetables lets students fit lessons around school or work. The teachers are an international team holding Cambridge CELTA and DELTA qualifications, supported by a pedagogical director and coordinators. The school describes its atmosphere as welcoming and family-like.

Beyond its regular courses, the school offers a free online English level test and, through the IH network, courses abroad. It also has a student portal and a second teaching site (IH Braga “B”).
