Jennifer Lowe School of English (Corbetta, Milan, Italy)

Jennifer Lowe School of English is a language school in Corbetta, in the Milan area of Lombardy. It was founded in 1996 by Dr Jennifer Lowe, a linguist with a Master’s degree and a PhD from Lancaster University who also carries out research with Cambridge University Press. The school was first called Studio Linguistico Dott.ssa Jennifer Jean Lowe and has taught for about 30 years. It is a Cambridge English Educational Partner and an authorised Cambridge exam centre, and it holds AISLi accreditation (the Italian Association of Language Schools). It also works with the British Council and IELTS, and its homepage reports more than 1,500 students a year. It has seven classrooms with digital boards and a multipurpose auditorium.

The school offers English courses for children, teenagers, adults, teachers and companies, at all levels from beginner to advanced. Group courses start in October, and individual lessons are available all year depending on teacher availability. Lessons take place in person in Corbetta, on site at schools and companies, or online via Zoom. Courses for children and teenagers follow the Cambridge levels, and the school prepares students for Cambridge exams, IELTS and Linguaskill. It also runs tailored corporate courses, seminars and professional development for English teachers, and custom programmes for state and private schools.

Its students are of all ages and come mainly from Corbetta and the wider Milan area, with a range of goals: everyday communication, exam certificates, school support or professional development. Teachers are qualified and receive ongoing training, and the school takes an inclusive, personalised approach to different learning styles.

The school is a certified Dyslexia Smart School, and its approach is built on inclusive teaching for learners with different needs. It accepts the Italian culture vouchers for young people (Carte Cultura) and the teacher bonus (Carta del Docente) as payment. Beyond language teaching, it works in partnership with schools and companies and offers training for teachers.
